BLACKIE RECEIVES OVER 500 WRITE-IN VOTES IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS TO BECOME THE 6th & FINAL GOLDEN COLLAR AWARD NOMINEE IN THE BEST DOG IN A THEATRICAL FILM CATEGORY.

Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese has led a successful and much publicized international write-in campaign to secure a highly coveted Golden Collar Award nomination for Blackie, the supposedly overlooked Doberman, from Mr. Scorsese's much-praised family film HUGO.

Alan Siskind, the CEO of Dog News Daily and the Golden Collar Awards said "Due to the outpouring of love and support from around the world from fans of Mr. Scorsese, his film HUGO, and its canine star Blackie, the write-in campaign on our Facebook page page to gain a Golden Collar Award has been successful. On Monday afternoon, keeping to its promise, Dog News Daily's nominating committee has formally notified the impartial panel of 14 Golden Collar Award judges that Blackie's name has been added to the Best Dog in a Theatrical Film category as the 6th and final nominee in that category; and that they should immediately include Blackie and HUGO in their deliberations."
